Welcome to Sheffield Slings’ website. We are one of the largest sling communities in the UK, with over 1,300 members in our Facebook group, and new members joining all the time. The group chats about all aspects of parenting, life in general- and of course slings! Members create meets to suit their family and times, we have fixed meets where our demo stash of slings is available for people to try out, and with 13 trained Babywearing Peer Supporters and 21 Babywearing consultants- plus many experienced slingers- there’s always someone to help with any queries you may have.
We started as a small group of parents who met through our mutual love of carrying our children in slings. We became friends and decided to set up a group to promote sling use around the city we call home, and share our experiences of parenting, its joys and frustrations, pooling our collective knowledge and varying parenting styles in a forum that would be encouraging and supportive. This website has grown out of the enthusiasm of the many wonderful group of people who have joined the original five of us!
Our Facebook forum can be found here – please come and join us. The group is closed for privacy as we have photos of our children on the page, but we welcome all new additions, and look forwards to making new friends!
We can also be contacted at sheffieldslings@gmail.com
Have a look at the information on our website, send us an email or join the group. Happy slinging!
Hi.
I was wondering if I could have a bit if advice or /and be able to come and try a few slings out before I buy one. I am torn between a woven or a ring sling. I have a beco and a stretchy. I loved my stretchy but is not supportive enough now my daughter is 7 months old.
Many thanks

Hi Lindsay,
You are welcome to come to a meet and try out any of our demo library. We can put you in touch with 3 organisations who hire slings as well. Our meets are organised within our Facebook group- http://www.facebook.com/groups/saturdayslings
Looking forward to meeting you,

Hi
My husband would like to try the connecta solar, do you know where we can rent one to try before we buy or even anyone selling secondhand ones please.
Many thanks
Gemma
Hi Gemma,
There are a few options for trying slings. Sheffield Slings run demo library meets around the city, where you can try different things at the meet for free. We don’t hire the carriers, so you wouldn’t be able to take them away with you. We have a baby and toddler Connecta Solarweave and we also have a discount code for 10% off if you decide to buy one. Our meets are: 1st and 3rd Thursdays, 11am at Victoria Centre, Stafford Road S2 or 2nd and 4th Mondays, 1pm at Playtime, St Thomas Philadelphia, Cross Gilpin St S6.
If you want to hire a sling for a few weeks, you can get in touch with Sheffield Sling Surgery ( http://www.sheffieldslingsurgery.wordpress.com ) who are also at our Playtime meets on 2nd and 4th Mondays, and who do doorstep hires at any time. There is also Sheffield Sling Library in S8 ( http://www.slinglibrary.org ) and Chesterfield Sling Library ( http://www.chesterfieldslinglibrary.com ) who both meet on Tuesday mornings.
Our Facebook group has lots more events and meets planned each week, and is a great place to get advice and help for finding the sling to suit you. You are welcome to join! http://www.facebook.com/groups/saturdayslings
Look forward to hearing how you get on, and maybe meeting you at a library session!

I’m looking for a sling. Hopefully a mobby or a kari-me brand to buy or have. If you could help please. Thank you
Hi Dolma, can you tell us a little about who you will be carrying and their age?
Hi. I was just wondering if you have any of the carriers (hybrid or ssc) which can be used from a few weeks old which aren’t the stretchy or ring slings. Also am I right in thinking that there is somewhere in sheffield today I could go to try them. Thanks in advance
Hi Charlotte,
We have a meet this afternoon at the playtime centre at St Thomas’ church. We’ll have our demo library there and Sheffield sling surgery will be there with their library for hires too. There are 2 sessions, 1pm and 2.45pm. The Postcode is S6 3BL
Hi,
I’m selling a un-used boxed Hoppediz sling (turquoise stripes). Does anyone know the best place to sell- or know anyone who would like to buy it? I live in Sheffield.
Thanks,
Hi Sarah, we have members who sell their wraps through our facebook group. There are also a number of larger facebook groups for selling slings, but they are international so you could end up sending a long way- and that comes with the usual risks of selling to an unknown person.
Are you a part of our facebook group? http://www.facebook.com/groups/saturdayslings You are welcome to post a for sale if slings int here 🙂
Emma
Hello
I am due at the start of June and would like to either hire or buy a sling.
Please could you let me know if it would be possible to try some slings?
A friend who has hired one before said that there are different types of sling
so I would like to have a look at some if possible?
Many Thanks
Kate
Hi Kate, congratulations! There are lots of options around for carrying babies- so many we do recommend you try some to see what fits you and your lifestyle 🙂 There are lots of options in our area- our list of sling resources and regular meets is here: http://tinyurl.com/ShSL-Links and you’ll find the details of social meets in our Facebook group, http://www.facebook.com/groups/saturdayslings
Emma
I’d Love to come to the group. Could I have the time and address please?
Thanks!
Which group are you thinking of, is it the Infirmary road one? They are every 2nd and 4th Monday from 1pm- 3:30pm. It includes play, slings, snacks for parent and toddlers, plus a singing time at the end! It costs £2 per family which pays for the room hire and snacks.

Hi, I was working in Asda today when I was talking to a lady with her daughter in a sling, I was very impressed and she told me that you can hire them from yourself and a library, I’m going to Greece soon and it would be perfect for me, so could you let me know how to go about it please,
Thank you so much
Krysia Truman
Hi Krysia, we do indeed have slings you can borrow, and there are lots of libraries in the area you can hire from- all will have slings suitable for warm weather holidays. If you go to http://www.tinyurl.com/ShSL-Links you’ll find our local directory of resources, and if you’re on Facebook you’ll find our supportive community group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/saturdayslings 🙂
